Many couples enjoy celebrating their wedding ceremony and festivities in the grandeur of nature. Whether they are physically active and have a love of the outdoors, or just long for the serene ambience and spirituality that a natural setting provides, getting married in the mountains, by a lake, or at the beach is romantic, memorable, and fun! This happy couple agreed to share their experiences tying the knot amidst the enchantment of a majestic forest in the great Northwest. Here is their special story.
We’re Kevin and Jenny, and we were just married on September 2nd in a scenic park in Portland, Oregon. Our story begins like a fairytale. We met in France during a study abroad program, unknowingly from the same university. After 5 years Kevin proposed at home, with our dogs involved. It was absolutely perfect.
Kevin had worked with Whiteflash online to select a beautiful
Tacori engagement ring with a super ideal
A CUT ABOVE® center diamond. I remember him telling me how overwhelmed he was when he started shopping, but that Whiteflash made the entire experience very easy and pleasant.
After a lengthy 3 year engagement, we finally began wedding planning. Our lives were changing a lot during that time, in which we uprooted from our home state of Texas and began our journey west, to begin a new chapter of our lives in Portland, Oregon. We knew that we wanted a very small, intimate wedding, and after falling in love with Portland, we decided to ask our closest relatives to travel to our new home. We had an outdoor ceremony in mind and ended up selecting the Hoyt Arboretum’s Redwood Deck as our venue. We had spent a lot of time at the Arboretum over the past couple years and liked that we could visit again any time in the future.
We liked the idea of working with local vendors as much as possible, but decided to purchase the matching
Tacori wedding ring for me and a corresponding Tacori men’s band for him, both from Whiteflash. As a bonus, Tacori includes a second, complimentary stainless steel
sports band for the men, which is so practical for everyday use!
Kevin’s suit was purchased from Mario’s, a specialty retailer in town, and our flowers were arranged by Fieldwork, a florist right in our neighborhood. My wedding dress and maid of honor dress were purchased online, from Show Me Your Mumu and Kennedy Blue, respectively. Right before the wedding, we decided to return to Whiteflash once again to purchase matching Tacori cuff links and a tie bar, as well as a gift from Tacori’s fashion line for my maid of honor. All of these pieces were a huge hit!
We opted for a private dinner and reception at The Country Cat, where we could spend quality time with the people who travelled so far to help us celebrate. Kevin had 3 grandparents in attendance, and wore his late grandfather’s watch as a tribute. My one living grandmother was physically unable to make the trip, however I wore a ring that my grandfather had given to her when they were teenagers that she had gifted to me on my 16th birthday. It’s always been very special to me and she was thrilled to see it on my hand in our wedding photos.
Our cake serving set were passed down from my grandparents, who have both passed on. It was important for us to be able to incorporate all of them into varying aspects of our day, and to make our day even more special, a very close friend officiated our wedding and another family friend created our wedding cake.
We worked with the very talented and creative Abby Tohline, owner of Her & Everything Photography. She was such a pleasure to work with and made us feel right at ease as she captured such a special moment in our lives.
